Marine activity price range
📝Unlike Penang and Langkawi, many boat shops in Pangkor Island do not display price lists for marine activities due to complex circumstances.
You will never be ripped off, but prices and services vary depending on the store.
For reference, here are the approximate prices of the Teluk Nipah
(survey 2025).
| Prices may be higher than listed during peak periods such as Malaysian public holidays and weekends (approximately 1.5 to 2 times higher). Prices for marine activities in the Pasir Bogak area are slightly different from those in the Teluk Nipah area. |
Snorkeling at Giam Island (life jacket, snorkel, goggles included)
🚤Small boat 💰Rm100 / 1~3 people
🛥️Covered boat 💰Rm200 / 1~10people
The boat shop that runs directly between the beach and Giam island is cheap but offers little service.
On the other hand, there are boat operators that charge a little more than them, but will take you to Giam island after guide the sights in the bay.
The boat will drop off passengers at Giam island and then return to the beach, so you can either let them know your return time in advance or call the phone number written on the jacket and they will come to pick you up.
*Island hopping (sightseeing within the bay) only is also available.

Round trip to Pangkor Laut Island + snorkeling
💰Rm400~ / Roofed boat, capacity 20 people (the price on the left is for 1~10 people)
The price is for one Roofed boat, so it’s a good deal if you have a large group.
If you are traveling alone or in a small group, you may be able to share with other guests, so please ask our staff.
After a guided tour of Pangkor Laut Island with explanations at each spot, you will return to Teluk Nipah and enjoy snorkeling at Giam Island for a leisurely 2~3 hour course.
(Boats that drop off passengers at Giam island may turn back to beach).

Boat shops are not busy during the off-season, so you may be able to get more service on this course.
If you wish, you can also enjoy squid fishing and snorkeling at the secret beach of Pangkor Laut Island, where landing is prohibited.

Ocean clarity of Pangkor Island
The ocean clarity of of Pangkor Island is inferior to that of the resort islands on the eastern side of the Malay Peninsula (Redang Island, Perhentian Island, Tioman Island, etc.).
Among the inhabited islands on the western side of the Malay Peninsula (Langkawi Island, Penang Island, etc.), the sea clarity is relatively good.

Ask the beach boy about the visibility of the sea that day
The visibility of the ocean varies from day to day.
During peak tourist seasons, the sea water be murkier, especially along the beach, compared to off-seasons.
The sea water may remain murky the day after rain, and the tides may cause some areas to have good visibility and others to have poor visibility.
Just ask the beach boys who pilot their boats every day.
| 💬Off the coast of Teluk Nipah, near Giam island and Mentagor island, you can see sea turtles🐢 and otters🦦 (cute, but are nuisance to fishing). You might also encounter a pod of dolphins🐬 on a boat trip to Pangkor Laut island. Marine iguanas🦎 can be seen on the rocks of Mentagor island and Pangkor Laut island, and during the off-season, you can sometimes see monitor lizards strolling along the beaches of Pangkor island. |

📝 To find a good boat rental shop?
NON SAN WATER SPORTS
If you are unsure about marine activities or if you have any other questions or concerns,
please visit Mr. Non who runs a boat rental shop in this part of Teluk Nipah.
Mr. Non is a long-time my friend and has given advice to many tourists.
He, his son Saiful, and the rest of the staff are sure to solve any problems you may have.
However, please refrain from asking for unreasonable requests.
Look for the store with this sign.
Be careful of trouble at the sea or on the beach
🐠 Precautions while swimming
● While snorkeling at Giam Island, be careful not to cut your feet on the shells and coral attached to the underwater rocks.
● On spring tides, you can walk across to Giam Island, but please do not walk barefoot
(there have been many cases of emergency transport due to stingray venom and sea urchin spines).
Also, high tide can make it difficult to walk back to land, so be sure to check the high tide times.
🚫Swimming near boats and jet skis is dangerous.
Never skin dive (there have been fatal accidents involving people getting caught in the boat propellers).

🏖️ Precautions on the beach
●
Please take care to manage your valuables (there have been many cases of monkeys🐒 mistaking items left on the beach for food and stealing them).
🚫Please do not feed or touch the stray dogs🐕 that occasionally appear on the beach (puppies are cute and you may be tempted to pet them, but if you are bitten you could contract rabies which has a 100% fatality rate, or other infectious diseases).

For avoid getting into unnecessary trouble
Compared to beach boys on other islands, the beach boys on Pangkor Island are, even if I am biased, honest and kind.
However, this is not limited to Pangkor Island, but some young people, including beach boys, habitually take or deal drugs because of their unique belief that even if they break the law, they do not break Islam.
Even if a young person is serious and kind during the day, if you meet them at night, their eyes may be bloodshot, so if they approach you at such a time, gently decline or ignore them.
