Cafes that serve relatively decent coffee

Cafes that serve relatively decent coffee on Pangkor Island
Cafes that serve relatively decent coffee

Due to Malaysia’s history as a former British colony, excellent tea is available almost everywhere. Coffee, however, has traditionally followed a different path. At local eateries and traditional coffee shops, the standard method is quite simple: coffee grounds are placed in a cloth filter bag and steeped in boiling water—a rustic, strong style of brewing that has long been the norm on Pangkor Island.

Since the early 2020s, coffee brewed with modern machines has finally begun to appear. At last, Teluk Nipah has a spot where you can enjoy a truly decent cup of contemporary coffee!

Suria Cafe by the Pool is tucked just a short walk inland from the main coastal road. Because of this slightly hidden location, it feels like a secret gem—but it also means it might not stay around forever. If you’re a coffee enthusiast, we recommend visiting soon to experience their dedication firsthand.

A Story of Dedication:

During a visit in January 2024, we asked for a double espresso. Even without a professional espresso machine, the staff member—driven by a sincere “can-do" spirit—replied, “I know the taste, so I’ll try my best."

Suria Coffee: You can enjoy some quiet time by the pool.

After a short wait, what arrived was an incredibly bold and intense black coffee. While it couldn’t quite match a true espresso, the flavor was more than enough to convey his hard work and dedication. It is one of those special, humble spots you can’t help but root for; a place you truly want to see thrive and stay in business for years to come.

It has become one of the stores I dont want to go out of business anytime soon.
