Breakfast on Pangkor Island

Breakfast on Pangkor Island
Breakfast on Pangkor Island
If the hotel breakfast isn’t to your liking or isn’t included in the room rate.
Compared to peak seasons such as weekends, most restaurants in the beach area are closed during off-season, making it difficult to find breakfast within walking distance.
Finding the store is easy if you rent a motorbike or car, but we’ve prepared a guide for those who don’t want to go that far.
Nasi Lemak
This traditional Malaysian breakfast is available at most establishments that are open from the morning.
The rice is cooked in salted coconut milk and flavored with pandanus leaves, and is served with small fish, peanuts, sambal, etc.
Some restaurants serve it wrapped in banana leaves on the table, so all you have to do is open it and eat.
However, be careful as it is famous for being a dish that clearly divides people into those who love it and those who hate it.
Chinese porridge
Traditional Malay-Chinese breakfast.
There are no restaurants serving Chinese porridge in the Teluk Nipah area, so you can get it in the Pasir Bogak area or in the Pekan Pangkor (Pangkor Town) and S.P (Sungai Pinang) areas on the east side of the island, where many Chinese people live.
For those who prefer toast in the morning
If you’re someone who prefers toast for breakfast, please refer to the following.
However, please forgive me as the only area I have stayed in in the morning is Teluk Nipah.
⭐⭐⭐ Very tasty roti
Roti canai flat pangkor
Opening hours 7:30AM~11:00AM 💰Rm7~15 / 1 person

📍Taman Pangkor Indah 🛵 Access
Southern Pangkor Island.
If you go further past the Floating Mosque, you will see a seven-story apartment building on your right.
Google Maps shows the south side of the apartment building, but the business is actually located on the north side of the building.

All of my friends who live on the island agree that the roti there is the best on the island, and even though it was unfortunately a rainy day when I visited, the shop was bustling with locals from early in the morning, and they had a wide variety of roti, including roti canai, and of course they had both hot and iced drinks available.
The shop closes as soon as the roti dough runs out, so it’s best to visit early in the morning, but the downside is that it’s quite far from the hotel area where tourists stay.

In addition to toast, they also offer nasi goreng, mie goreng (changing daily), fried eggs (boiled eggs), fried spring rolls, sausages, fruit, and desserts.
Drinks include all-you-can-drink coffee, tea, and orange juice.
Although it is undeniably a little pricey compared to the average prices in the surrounding area, it is recommended for people who want to eat a variety of different foods in the morning.

📍Teluk Nipah 🏃 Access
During the off-season, only a limited number of stores are open in the morning, so many Western tourists who are struggling to find breakfast visit here in search of toast.
They do not serve stir-fried dishes such as nasi goreng in the morning.
Recently, the price has been set a little higher than the taste, so opinions are divided.

⭐⭐⭐ Popular with foreign tourists
The Bakery PDW
Opening hours 1:00PM~6:00PM 💰Rm Unkown
📍Pasir Bogak 🚗 Access
If you drive on Jalan Pasir Bogak towards Pangkor Town, you will see it on your right shortly after passing the Chinese primary school on your left.
Next to 7-Eleven.
Across the road is the large duty-free store “Coco Valley Duty Free Pangkor".
This is a well-respected bakery that is popular not only with locals but also with Western tourists who come all the way from their accommodations far away just to shop there.
However, it seems they are not open in the morning, so if you want bread for breakfast, it’s better to come in the afternoon of the previous day.
